Perhaps the PCO simply mis-clicked

An old friend of mine would tell me that this little event, which occurred at 11:31 a.m. Ottawa time, contains a wealth of information. So, for our friends in the Privy Council Office, let me make your search a little easier . No, Sharon Smith's indiscretions won't go away. If she was willing to behave in a fashion which showed disrespect for her office at the municipal level, there's no telling what...

Silly PCO (Impolitical)

Really, PCO? Maybe if you'd done this kind of research on Ms. Couillard, you wouldn't have land mines going off virtually every day... More hard work on the great issues of the day, that's our Privy Council Office...heh...:)

Only29% Of Canadians Believe The Conservative Government Is 'Open, Honest'

A poll conducted by the Privy Council Office has found that less than one-third of Canadians believe the government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper is "open and honest." Is it any wonder that Canadians feel this way? Look at how the Conservatives refuse to be honest on any number of issues with the public: -In and out election fraud scheme -RCMP raid on Conservative headquarters to seize documents...

Well on a positive front, it looks like a good year for the Poppy farmers (Just Another Willy Loman)

In the fall of 2006 Harpers, Privy Council Office wanted more positive reports from the reporters embedded with the Canadian forces. From the Globe PM's office sought 'a positive spin' from reportersBut late summer and early fall, 2006, had been a difficult time for Canadian troops in Afghanistan. Fifteen soldiers had been killed in seven weeks - producing a lot of media coverage about casualties -...

It's either Sensenbrenner or Mr.Mustard in the Library

Days after an internal probe by the Clerk of the Privy Council Office Kevin Lynch failed to determine the source of the Naftagate leak, James Travers at The Star reported that "Multiple sources say the Canadian note questioning the Democrat frontrunner's public promise to reopen NAFTA was leaked from the Prime Minister's Office" to Frank Sensenbrenner, a Republican who worked at the Canadian embassy...

A huge story being overshadowed by the Bernier resignation (Impolitical)

Jim Travers yesterday had a "bombshell" of a story, with sources pointing to PMO personnel directly for leaking the diplomatic memo on Obama to a chummy Republican contact of theirs. "Multiple sources" were apparently not happy in the wake of the Privy Council Office's report last week that seemed to clear Ian Brodie and Michael Wilson but dump on Foreign Affairs without fingering the real trail. And...

Friday Afternoon Whitewash Dump? (The Gazetteer)

ThePavelBureDefense*ConVilleWell, well, well......Apparently, the soon-to-be former chief of staff to current Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Mr. Ian Brodie didn't do anything wrong in NAFTA-Gate.Here's the lede from the CBC's report:A Privy Council Office report into the so-called NAFTAgate issue on Friday cleared Prime Minister Stephen Harper's chief of staff of breaching any confidentiality rules.So,...

If this constitutes being cleared... (Impolitical)

A damaging government report being released on a Friday afternoon, truly shocking. This Globe headline, picked up from the CP reporting, seems misleading if you read the Privy Council Office's NAFTA-gate report: "NAFTA-leak report clears PM's chief of staff." If by "clear" they mean on a very technical level, that is. Brodie has been cleared on two technical grounds, of leaking any classified information...

WELL THE PRIVY COUNCIL OFFICE HAS STOPPED BY,... TWICE (The Wingnuterer)

Yup, seems my posting about Steve Janke's blog burst about the Political Death of Garth Turner and where his Harper-Bot trolls speculate endless about the Billions and Billions of Tax Payer Dollars I get for doing some of Garth's photoshopping has brought the PCO boyz out of the wood work (hi guys, welcome to the Wingnuterer, have a nut on me!)So I guess this wouldn't be a good time to talk to you...

Due process demanded for one Khadr, not another (Impolitical)

Well, it seems I have somewhat of a friend in the Privy Council Office (see below). Hope you enjoyed the post this morning, pal, you guys might want to get on that $20 billion oversight in the military budget. Or perhaps you should pick up where the previous government left off and get things right with Omar Khadr. As reported in the Globe today, with respect to Abdullah Khadr, Omar's older brother,...

The Cons. back down; claim no political interference will happen with independent agencies. (Scott's DiaTribes)

Well, there was a bit of an uproar after Sheila Fraser, the Auditor-General, casually remarked in committee hearings yesterday that she had no intention of vetting her communications through the Privy Council Office. That led to this news story in the Star, and which led to a few bloggers and media types expressing justified shock at this. This was another example of more control freak tendencies of...

A big shout out to Sheila Fraser and other independent officers of Parliament today (Impolitical)

For spilling the beans on that draft communications plan making the rounds up there in Ottawa that would see the independent officers of Parliament having their public communications reviewed by the PM's Privy Council Office. Not exactly the stuff of independence and arms length operation. And so, Mr. Harper wants to put an end to inconvenient truths being spoken. And hats off to Vic Toews for a valiant...
