Many blame 'weapon dogs' solely on bad owners, but is it not disingenuous to deny that animals are bred for particular traits? In a recent article Kit Malthouse, Boris Johnson's deputy for policing in London, called for all "weapon dogs" of the "bull-type" to be not only registered and muzzled but also neutered and so humanely yet effectively phased out of existence. He was writing...

Boris Johnson squashed his Deputy's proposals to wipe out bull dog breeds today, saying that the last thing he wanted was to see "harmless pooches being slaughtered." The comments came after his Deputy Mayor for Policing Kit Malthouse called for all bull dog breeds to be "phased out" in the UK. Under the proposals, modeled on a scheme in Ontario, owners who refused to have their...

The cat-loving Adam Bienkov has joined The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and K9 magazine in questioning Kit Malthouse's recent proposal that we follow legislators in Ontario and "find a way gently to phase out the canine weapons that terrorise the streets of Peckham, Toxteth and Moss Side." Given the range and rage of the opposition he's provoked...

Dog owners have reacted angrily to proposals by Boris Johnson's Deputy Mayor or Policing Kit Malthouse to wipe entire breeds of dog off the map. Under the plans, all bull dogs including the Staffordshire Bull Terrier would need to be registered, muzzled and neutered, effectively killing off those breeds within the UK. Labeling them as "weapon dogs" Malthouse writes that : "As well as...

Why can't we have a day on which we feel mildly proud of our national tradition of liberty? Over the last decade, astute commentators and politicians have pointed out that it might be a good idea to have some sort of Britishness day, on which to celebrate common values, to display modest pride in what unites us. Such a festival seems to foster patriotism in America, France and elsewhere. It also fosters...

Boris Johnson writes in the Daily Telegraph how we should all remember the 9th of November - the day the Berlin Wall was breached for good. He says: It is precisely now, when the public mood is so bitter towards bankers, so hostile to profit, so seemingly brassed off with the very idea of wealth creation that we should remember how ghastly, grim and unworkable was the alternative – state-controlled...

Oxford Circus, the heart of London's West End shopping and entertainment district, got a Tokyo-style makeover Monday with a new "scramble crossing" layout. London Mayor Boris Johnson launched the new scheme, aimed at cutting crowd congestion and the lengthy traipse round the interchange. People are now able to walk diagonally across to their destination in a pedestrian free-for-all. The...

In the spirit of fairness to all who come in front of the judiciary of one on Asian Invasion, I say to Rodney Hide this was a bad call - no biscuit. The Act leader and Minister for Local Government sidestepped Mr Key's directive by keeping Ms Crome's business-class flights off his ministerial tab, instead claiming them as part of his MP's perk of 90 per cent subsidised international travel for partners....

Just watched the latest episode of Question Time, featuring Nick Griffin, Bonnie Greers, Chris Huhne, Sayeeda Warsi, and Jack Straw. It was rather interesting, and featured heavily on the BNP (British National Party) which is pretty much an British equivalent of the Nazi Party. The leader of their party, Nick Griffin, or as someone "mistakenly" called Dick Griffin, was on the show trying...

I might not like him or his party but believe that the BBC is right to have Nick Griffin ( who I admit to mixing up with chubby carton character Peter Griffin) on this evenings Question Time. Back in the 80's and 90'S Sinn Fein were banned from appearing on the news as Mrs Thatcher believed that to allow it would provide them with the oxygen of publicity. I remember the words of people like Gerry Adams...
