I see that "the Ruanator" aka Education Minister Caitriona Ruane said it would not be safe for her children to wear GAA jerseys in some areas of Northern Ireland. Ms Ruane told the Parnell Summer School in Co Wicklow: "I have no difficulty with them wearing these jerseys around Newry but in other areas at certain times it would not be safe." She added: "As a mother I would have to protect my children."...

£3 million was budgeted last year on trying to reduce the relatively large number of people taking their own lives in Northern Ireland, a problem which the executive is resolved to tackle and one that disproportionately affects young people (and males at that). With this in mind I find it a little odd that Newry and Mourne Council would glorify the taking of ones own life in a manner so overt as renaming...
