Digby Ioane has been ruled out of Australia's Test with Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday as a result of a shoulder injury. The Queensland centre is replaced in the starting line-up by Western Force's Ryan Cross with Lachlan Turner coming in on the bench. The injury is to Ioane's right shoulder, rather than the left which required reconstruction earlier this year and sidelined him for six months....

Mike Blair, Scotland's back-up scrum-half, has been ruled out of Saturday's Test against Australia after failing a fitness test on an injured ankle. The Edinburgh number nine suffered the injury in last Saturday's 23-10 win over Fiji after coming on to replace co-captain Chris Cusiter. Blair will be replaced on the bench by Gloucester's Rory Lawson.

There is bad blood after Peter Hain stood fast and vetoed Edinburgh as the seat of the permanent secretariat of the British and Irish council. Hain was representing the UK Government at the meeting. Why I wonder! Hain claimed there had to be a total consensus on the decision and simply refused to agree to it. In the first round of voting, Edinburgh received 5 votes, the Isle of Man 2 and Cardiff 1....
